Here’s a reminder of what Merlin Mann called “working through the suck“. Really it’s all about tenacity and keeping on, keepin’ on.

Need a reminder about “doing the right thing, at the right time”, even if it seems to break the rules.

My father-in-law sent me an email with these photos. My husband, the engineer, and my son, the heavy equipment enthusiast think they are as cool as I do.

A Stroke of Insight

April 20th, 2008 · 4 Comments

My mom shared this TED presentation with me - it came from someone in her prayer group.  While it’s topically about Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor and her experience of having a massive stroke, there’s a much deeper message about the choices we have in life.

My son was diagnosed with severe apraxia when he was a toddler, and spend many years in speech therapy, learning how to speak intelligibly.  He also has challenges with his fine and gross motor skills.  While I’m sure this is not a medical description of apraxia, I’ve come to explain it to people, as he had some event similar to a stroke, either before or during childbirth.  As many developmental challenges as he has, he also has some incredibly mature and profound insights about life.

Don’t know if this is why my mom sent the link to me.  Possibly.   Or maybe something more to do with all the mind quieting exploration I’ve played with since I was a teenager. Either way, the presentation was riveting.

I’m a Steve Nash fan.  To me, he represents talent, hard work, and teamwork, and with his natural humility and commitment to preparation, he inspires me to try a little harder and do my best.

Here’s the Arizona Central article about Steve’s passion for filmmaking.

Rules for the Road

February 14th, 2008 · 1 Comment

The social media highway is new to me.  Something that feels very natural and yet a little overwhelming and foreign at times.   I appreciate when someone writes a blog that jives with my perspective, while providing illuminating insights that further my consciousness understanding of the ways of the world.  You know, entertaining and educational, all at the same time.

The Ten Commandments of New Social Media says it all.
